Mrs. Glenda Moss Parker, 74, of Mount Airy, passed away Saturday morning, January 28, 2023, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  Mrs. Parker was born June 28, 1948, in Surry County, the daughter of the late William Edgar and Dora Phillips Moss.  Glenda graduated from North Surry High School.  She married Larry Dean Parker in June 1968.  She graduated magna cum laude from Gardner-Webb College on a North Carolina Teaching Fellows scholarship.  She worked as a kindergarten teacher for Surry County Schools for many years.  Glenda was involved in Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, the Mount Airy Rescue Squad Auxiliary, American Red Cross, and Mount Carmel Baptist Church as a Sunday school teacher, secretary, and the clothes closet volunteer coordinator.  She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Michael D. and Terra Parker of Ararat; a daughter and son-in-law, Kristie P. and Jefferson Hebler of Warrenton, VA; five grandchildren, Wesley Hebler and Alexander “A.J.” Hebler, both of Warrenton, VA, and Joshua Parker, Jonathan Parker, and Joanna Parker, all of Ararat; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Fran Winters of Westfield, Betty Inman of Dobson, Mary and Bobby Gwyn of Mount Airy, and Vickie and Mike Matthews of Winston-Salem; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Dean Parker; a sister, Mildred Moore; three brothers, Michael Moss, Leon Moss, and Dale Moss; her father-in-law and mother, Rufus and Ruby Horton Parker; a sister-in-law; several brothers-in-law; a niece; and a nephew.  The funeral service will be held Thursday, February 2, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with Joanna Parker, the Rev. Sam Prince, and the Rev. Wayne Moore officiating.  Burial will follow in the Mount Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC  27017.
