Glenn Allen Thacker

Mr. Glenn Allen Thacker, 80, of 586 Allred Mill Road, Mount Airy, passed away Saturday, November 29, 2008, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Thacker was born January 18, 1928, in Surry County, to the late Robert M. and Lillie Griffith Thacker. Glenn owned and operated Riverdale Electronics for many years and was a member of Grace Moravian Church. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carrie McCormick Thacker of the home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Toni and Dennis Leedy of Winston-Salem and Rebecca Thacker of Jacksonville, FL; a son, Mark Thacker of Mount Airy; four grandchildren and spouses, Jennifer and Jay Simile of Atlanta, GA, Jenna and Sean Morse, of Owings, MD, Jonathan Thacker of Chapel Hill, and Halley Headrick of Jacksonville, FL; two great-grandchildren, Alexander Morse and Taylor Morse, both of Owings, MD; and a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Ruth Thacker of Melbourne, FL. In addition to his parents, Mr. Thacker was preceded in death by a grandson, Lawrence David Lanning; a sister, Lucy Thacker Marsh; and three brothers, Jack Wayne Thacker, James Calvin Thacker, and William Howard Thacker. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 2, 2008, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Tony E. Hayworth, and burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 at the funeral home.
