Mr. Glenn Donald Utt, 81, of Mount Airy, passed away Thursday morning, November 8, 2018, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Utt was born August 12, 1937, in Surry County, one of ten children born to the late Ed and Liza Evelyn Tate Utt. Glenn served our country in the United States Army National Guard for 10 years. He owned and operated Toast Floor Covering for many years, and he later worked as a truck driver for Junior’s Trucking, Inc. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Sherri and Tony Thompson of Lowgap and April and Wesley Butler of Clemmons; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Donald Grey Utt, Michael Ray and Michele Utt, Ricky Dale and Misty Utt, and Gary Franklin and Kathy Utt, all of Mount Airy; sixteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Eva Utt Cave of Mount Airy; a brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Sandra Utt of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Utt was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Mae Hiatt Utt; his second wife, Eva Mae France Utt; four sisters, Hazel Utt, Margaret Utt, Mildred Utt Findley, and Treva Utt Easter; and three brothers, James Utt, Carmel Utt, and Bobby Utt. The funeral service will be held Sunday, November 11, 2018, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Dean Eaton officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
