Glenna Shatley Stoltz
August 8, 1934 – May 4, 2024
Glenna Shatley Stoltz, 89, formerly of Mount Airy, NC, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Kernersville Medical Center. She was born August 8, 1934 in Ashe County, NC, to the late F H Shatley and Anna Wallace Shatley. Ms. Stoltz graduated from Chilhowie (Va) High School in 1951 and moved to Winston Salem shortly after, working for Hanes Knitting for 20 years before going to work at Westinghouse Corporation. She retired from Westinghouse after 25 years of service.
Ms. Stoltz was preceded in death by her husband, James Howard Stoltz, and her oldest son Tony Howard Stoltz. She is survived by her children, Donna Stoltz Taylor (Joe), of Kernersville, NC, Randy Harland Stoltz, of Cary, NC. Daughter-in-law, Mrs. Tony (Debbie) Stoltz, three beloved grandchildren, Christopher Stoltz (Maya), Ryann Rierson (Rob), Amy Pait (Matt), and three special great grandchildren, Cameron Pait, Archer Stoltz, and Teagan Glenna Stoltz.
Ms. Stoltz lived in Mount Airy, NC for many years until she moved to Kernersville due to health reasons. The last three years Glenna has resided at the Arbor Ridge Independent Living community in Kernersville, NC, where she enjoyed interacting with her friends, neighbors, and the fabulous staff. She especially enjoyed the social activities, playing Music Bingo, dining with her special friends, and attending various cooking and craft events. During her downtime, she was an avid Judge Judy watcher and fan and almost never missed an episode of the Andy Griffith Show.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Staff at Arbor Ridge for all their support and care for their Memaw and Mom during her time there. They would also like to express a heartfelt thanks to the doctors and staff at Kernersville Medical Center for their compassionate care during her brief illness.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM.
A private interment for the family will be held at Oaklawn Cemetery at a later date.
