Glennis Quesinberry Bowman

Mrs. Glennis Quesinberry Bowman, 93, of 363 Marigold Lane, Ararat, VA, passed away Monday afternoon, December 28, 2009, at Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart, VA. Mrs. Bowman was born November 8, 1916, in Carroll County, VA, to the late Waller Edmond and Gillie Frances Hendrick Quesinberry. She was a homemaker and a member of Doe Run Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Julia Ann Shelton of Mount Airy and Janet and Dillard Nester of Ararat, VA; six sons and five daughters-in-law, Richard and Lillian Bowman and Mitchell Bowman, all of Mount Airy, Lyle and Karen Bowman of Westfield, Gary and Lunell Bowman, Phillip and Maxine Bowman, and Ronnie and Deborah Bowman, all of Ararat, VA; twenty grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Pauline Wood of Vesta, VA, and Ila Mae and Ralph Hall of Ararat, VA; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bowman was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Gaston Bowman; a son-in-law, James Gray Shelton; three grandchildren, Stephanie Bowman, Phillip Neil Bowman, and Donald Christopher Bowman; a great-grandchild, Erica Evans; two sisters, Gladys Puckett and Beulah Sowers; and four brothers, Cecil Quesinberry, Clive Quesinberry, Herbert Quesinberry, and Hayden Quesinberry. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 30, 2009, at 2:00 PM at Doe Run Baptist Church, with the Rev. Terry Vaughan and the Rev. Homer Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at Doe Run Baptist Church, where her body will remain until the hour of the funeral service.
