Gloria Jean Hiatt Hawks

Mrs. Gloria Jean Hiatt Hawks, 79, of Mt. Airy passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2016 unexpectedly at Northern Hospital of Surry County. She was born in Henry County, VA on May 17, 1936 to the late Edward C. and Alpha Willis Hiatt. Mrs. Hawks was retired from Spencer’s Inc. and was a member of Flat Rock Presbyterian Church where she was the pianist and organist for over fifty years. She loved politics, crossword puzzles, bridge, and loved playing rook with her partners, Sandy Goins, Mary Joe Roberts, and Billie Mae Davis. She is survived by a sister, Cleo Hiatt; a brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Linda Hiatt; nephews and spouse, Ralph and Debbie Hiatt, and Mark Hiatt; great nephew and great niece, Jarrett Hiatt, Alyson Hiatt; special cousin and spouse, Gail and Don Cox; aunt, Mary Willis; best friends, Henry and Honey Rowe, and many more friends. In addition to her parents Mrs. Hawks was preceded in death by her husband, Beryl Nelson Hawks. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 19, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Wilborn Rives officiating. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Flat Rock Presbyterian Church, P.O.
