Gloria McCann

Mrs. Gloria Hodges McCann, 76 of Mount Airy passed away on Monday, March 1, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family.  Mrs. McCann was born in Surry County on October 14, 1944 to the late Franklin and Jennie Hudson Hodges.  Mrs. McCann was a loving wife, mother, mema, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.  She will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved her.  Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 55 years, Arthur Gray McCann, daughter and son-in-law, Sharon McCann Horton and husband Keaven; son and daughter-in-law, Benny Gray McCann and wife Renee; grandchildren and spouses, Paige Horton Chandler and husband Chase, Blake Horton, Tessa McCann, Kimberly Gates, and Maggie Tilley, two great-grandchildren, Tre Gates and Gracie Gates; one sister-in-law, Vernelle W. Hodges, special friend, Billy Hawks and wife Danette, several nieces and nephews as well as many great nieces and nephews.  A funeral service will be held, Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at Central View Missionary Baptist Church at 11:00 AM with Rev. Michael Gentry and Rev. Josh Jenkins officiating with burial to follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until time of the service at Central View Missionary Baptist Church.  In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, North Carolina 27030 or Central View Missionary Baptist Church, cemetery fund c/o Jewel Carpenter, 1088 White Dirt Road, Dobson, North Carolina, 27017.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
