Grace Miller Graham Chilton

Mrs. Grace Miller Graham Chilton, 97, of 2021 Ararat Road, Ararat, passed away Sunday, October 12, 2008, at her home. Mrs. Chilton was born October 11, 1911, in Chesterfield County, SC, daughter of the late Rev. Joseph Alexander and Queen McDonald Graham. She touched many lives through her teaching career at Eldora and Copeland schools. She was a faithful member of Pine Hill Friends Meeting for many years. Grace served as a Sunday school teacher and the church organist for nearly 50 years. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, M.H. "Sonny" Chilton, Jr. and Linda Chilton of Ararat; three grandchildren and their spouses, Chad and April Chilton and Martha Chilton, all of Ararat, and Grayson and Jason Moser of Pilot Mountain; and three great-grandchildren, Morgan Paige Chilton and Chad Madison Chilton, both of Ararat, and Brett Samuel Moser of Pilot Mountain. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Chilton was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Herman Chilton, Sr.; and seven sisters and brothers. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 15, 2008, at 2:00 PM at Pine Hill Friends Meeting. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Billy Britt and the Rev. Michael Thames, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Pine Hill Friends Meeting, and other times at the home of Sonny and Linda Chilton, 130 Bowman Road, Ararat. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Grace's caregivers, Maxine Davidson and Chester and Frances Jones, for the love, care, and kindness shown to her during her illness.
