Gracie Veo "Mema" Amos

Mrs. Gracie Veo “Mema” Collins Amos, 95, of Mt. Airy passed away Friday, December 4, 2020 at Northern Regional Hospital in Mt. Airy.  She was born in Surry County on August 7, 1925 to the late Wiley and Gracie Lowe Collins.  Mrs. Amos retired from Spencer’s after 40 years of employment, and was a member of River of Life Community Church.  She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Glenda and Allen Costellow; Sandra and Lawrence McCoy; sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Debbie Amos, Jason Amos, Hank and Sharon Amos; thirteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Amos was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. John Thomas Amos; brothers and sisters, Wiley Collins, Virginia Rose, Vera Mae Spurlin, James Collins.  A funeral service will be held Monday, December 7, 2020 at 12:00 PM at River of Life Community Church with the Rev. Dud Spencer, and the Rev. Randel Smith officiating.  Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends Sunday night from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the church.  Due to COVID-19 concerns, the family family ask that attendees wear a face mask and practice social distancing.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to River of Life Community Church, 1156 West Lebanon St., Mt.
