Gracie Mae Wood Gordon

Mrs. Gracie Mae Wood Gordon, 91, widow of Mr. Charlie Brackett Gordon, of Mount Airy, passed away on Thursday April 3, 2008 at Northern Hospital of Surry County. She was born in Surry County on January 18, 1917 to the late Brady Elbert and Persie Sue Johnson Wood. Mrs. Gordon was a homemaker and member of Blues Grove Baptist Church. Surviving are three sisters and brothers-in-law Margaret and Travis Wayne Cave of Mount Airy, Emma Lou Hicks of Germanton, and Rossie Lee and Claude Hicks of Spokane Washington and Davis Hicks of Mt. Airy; three brothers and sisters-in-law Howard and Evelyn Wood, Clinton Ray and Doris Wood all of Lexington, Arnold and Ann Wood of Dobson, Blanca Wood of Gastonia, SC and Helen Wood of Lexington. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Gordon was preceded in death by three brothers James Wood, Bill Wood and Mack Wood and a sister Edna Mae Hicks. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Sunday in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home of Dobson with Rev. Harvey Bowman and Rev. Rex Adams officiating. Burial will follow in Blues Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 12:00 pm until the hour of the service.
