Mrs. Gracie Ella Harrison Holcomb, 86, of Elkin, NC, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday morning April 4, 2013, at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Surry County on October 19, 1926, the last surviving of nine children born to the late William Howard Harrison and Verlie Mae Fowler Harrison. She was retired from Chatham Manufacturing Co. and a member of Mountain Park Baptist Church. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn Sue Holcomb Hriso and husband, James Richard Hriso of Davidson, NC; six grandchildren, Travis William Edmonds and wife, Nikki Jarman Edmonds of Cary, NC, Adam Carlton Edmonds and fianc Emily Dare Cooper of Knightdale, NC, Elizabeth Leigh Edmonds Bynum and her husband, Benjamin Glen Bynum of New Bern, NC, Ashley Michelle Edmonds Hayes of Raleigh, NC, Gregory James Hriso and wife, Ann Christine Napier Hriso of Parker, CO and Kimberly Sue Hriso Hofland of San Francisco, CA; five great-grandchildren, Macon Manly Bynum of New Bern, NC, Ethan Gregory Hriso of Parker, CO, Kade Napier Hriso of Parker, CO, Emmeline Vionne Hofland of San Francisco, CA and her twin sister, Mirabella Sophia Hofland of San Francisco, CA; many nieces, nephews and cousins whom she dearly loved. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Holcomb was predeceased by her husband, Willie "Bill" Howard Holcomb, an infant son, Boby Grey Holcomb, four sisters, Laura Elizabeth "Sis" Harrison Dezern, Mattie Mae Harrison Holyfield, Sarah Pauline Harrison Wood, Mabel Harrison Hodges and four brothers, Glenn Harrison, William Clinton Harrison, Jesse Grover Harrison and Fred Sterlin Harrison. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday April 6, 2013 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home by Rev. Zachary Sizemore with burial entombment to follow in Crestwood Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from Noon to 2:00 pm at Moody-Davis funeral home on Saturday April 6, 2013. Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made to Hugh Chatham Nursing Center, Activities Department, 700 Johnson Ridge Road, Elkin, NC 28621 or to the charity of the donor's choice. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Hugh Chatham Nursing Center and to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for their loving and compassionate care.
