Grady Hiatt

Mr. Grady Hiatt, 88, of Mount Airy, passed away Monday night, October 1, 2018, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  Mr. Hiatt was born August 6, 1930, in Surry County, the son of the late Albert Reid and Bertha McMillian Hiatt.  Grady retired as a forklift operator from North Carolina Granite Corporation after many years of service.  He is survived by his stepchildren, Pattie Sue Morton, Billy Morton, and Hurley and Diane Morton, all of Mount Airy; several stepgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Hiatt was preceded in death by his longtime companion, Lottie Rachel Morton; two stepchildren, Clara Goins and Thelma Glass; a sister, Gypsy Hiatt; and three brothers, Curtis Hiatt, William F. Hiatt, and Albert Reid Hiatt, Jr.  There are no local services planned.  Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy is in charge of the cremation and serving the family.
