Mr. “Grady” Eugene Pike, a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend to all, age 79 of Greensboro, NC, passed away Tuesday April 20, 2021 at his residence. Grady served his country in the Air Force for four years. After attaining the rank of Sargent, Grady worked in a highly technical capacity where he was stationed in Europe for three years. After leaving the Air Force, NASA recruited Grady to work with the Apollo Space program as an engineer at the Kennedy Space Center. Grady retired from Wrangler Corporation in Greensboro, NC as a technical engineer after 22 years of service. Mr. Pike was born June 25, 1941 in Patrick County, VA. to the late Joesph Daniel and Mary Lou Pike. In addition to his parents, Mr. Pike was preceded in death by four sisters Frances Pike, Dot Simmons, Vannie Pike, and Mae Marshall and by six brothers Charles Wayne Pike, Stuart Pike, Roger Pike, Robert Pike, John Pike, and Warren Pike. Surviving are many loving nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, sisters in law, and special friends. A memorial service will be held honoring his memory Sunday April 25 at 3:30pm at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy, NC. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Red Cross. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the Pike family.
