Mr. Granville N. "Randy "Epperson, 75, of Ararat, VA, widower of Pauline Grace Piekos Epperson, passed away Sunday, November 16, 2008, at Woodhaven Nursing Home in Montvale, VA. He was born February 13, 1933, in Patrick County, VA, to Rufus and Bessie King Epperson. He was retired from Scenic Ford and a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church. Mr. Epperson was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean Conflice. Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Melanie Epperson of Benson, Kent and Kathryn Epperson of Meadows of Dan, VA, and Clint and Sherrie Epperson of Kodak, TN; four grandchildren, Katelyn Epperson, Kristy Epperson, and Kevin Epperson, all of Meadows of Dan, VA, and Mindy Epperson of Kodak, TN; three sisters, Ruby Senter of Lowgap, Shirley Bowman of Lynchburg, VA, and Mary Hiatt of Mount Airy; and a brother, David Epperson of Mount Airy. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Epperson was preceded in death by sister, Alpha Ritenour; and two brothers, Charlie Epperson and Haywood Epperson. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, November 20, 2008, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by Deacon Paul Liotard, and burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted at the graveside by VFW Memorial Honor Guard Post 2019 of Mount Airy and Post 9436 of Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home.
