Mr. Grover Lloyd Fleming, 76 died September 18, 2008 at his residence in the Pine Ridge community (on his wedding anniversary). He grieved for Alma Lou and suffered many medical problems over the past few years, but he is walking in a new heavenly and healthy body today with his Lord and Savior. Mr. Fleming was born in Carroll County, VA on September 6, 1932 to the late James Marvin and Ida Belle Myers Fleming. He retired after forty years from the furniture industry. He was of the Baptist faith. He served in the US Army and received an honorable discharge in February 1961. He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Tammie and Grayson Boles of the home, Sandra and Randy Lowe of Lowgap, and Pam and Mike Doyle of Martinsville; grandchildren, Brittany Boles, Adam Lowe, Amber Lowe, Allison Lowe, Veronica Doyle and Terry Doyle; great grandchildren, Nickolas Doyle and Alex Lowe; brothers, Harless Fleming, Stan Fleming and Leon Fleming; a brother-in-law, Dwayne Brown and a special friend, Lynn Killian. In addition to his wife and parents Mr. Fleming was preceded in death by a sister, Alma Lois Fleming and four brothers, Elroy and Burl Fleming and Dewey and Marvin Frazier. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, September 21, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy with burial to follow in Fisher Gap Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 123. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. The family would like to express a special thanks to Dr. David Dixon and Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for the wonderful care they gave Mr. Fleming during his illness.
