Grover Aldine Holder

Mr. Grover Aldine Holder, 88, of Mount Airy, left his earthly home to be with his Savior on Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  Mr. Holder was born May 26, 1932, in Surry County, to the late Grover Madison and Flora Alice Chappell Holder.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Colon Holder, James Holder, and Wayne Holder.  Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 70 years, Betty Lou Hill Holder of the home; his daughter, Hilda Holsclaw and her husband, Robert Holsclaw, of Mount Airy; his daughter, Deborah Bray of Dobson; and his daughter, Kimberly Tate and her husband, Vann Tate, of Mount Airy.  Also surviving are his grandchildren, Amy James of Wilmington, Melissa Holt of Dobson, Kendra Hall of Mount Airy, Lori Bray of Johnson City, TN, Lennie Holsclaw of Mount Airy, Anthony Tate of Charlotte, and Karleigh Tate of Mount Airy; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gaynelle Nichols and Linda Burcham and her husband, Kit Burcham, all of Mount Airy; and a sister-in-law, Frances Holder of Mount Airy.  Aldine was a faithful member and deacon of Ivy Green Baptist Church.  He had a close relationship with God that could be seen by anyone that knew him.  Aldine had a strong love for his children and grandchildren, producing an infectious smile on his face when talking about family.  Aside from his faith and family, he had a passion for animals, including his little dog and faithful companion, Leah.  She stayed by his side daily.  The family would like to thank Judy Johnson who helped care for Aldine at home.  A private service will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ivy Green Baptist Church, 818 Old Lowgap Road, Mount Airy, NC  27030.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
