Grover Paul Jenkins, Jr

Mr. Grover Paul “Pete” Jenkins, Jr., 88, a resident of the Piney Grove community, went to be with the Lord on Saturday morning, February 25, 2017. Mr. Jenkins was born January 11, 1929, in Surry County, the third of five children born to the late Grover Paul Jenkins, Sr. and Viola Newman Jenkins. He was known as a loving husband, dad, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who loved to work with his hands to provide for his family. He is survived a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah Jenkins and the Rev. Keith Marion; a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis Paul and Janet Jenkins; his grandchildren, Michelle Jenkins and her husband, Josh Quesinberry, Amy Marion, David Marion and his wife, Bethany Marion, Todd Marion, and Brian Marion; his great-grandchildren, Paul Quesinberry, Christen Marion, Keith Marion, and Kathryne Marion; two sisters, Jan Goad and Faye Smith; a brother, George Robert “Bob” Jenkins; and a special niece, Carol Mosteller. In addition to his parents, Mr. Jenkins was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Kathryne “Catsy” Draughn Jenkins, to whom he was married 66 years; and a sister, Ruth Barber. A graveside service will be held Sunday, February 26, 2017, at 3:30 PM at Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Keith Marion and the Rev. Kermit L. Gray officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday immediately following the service in the fellowship hall at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Piney Grove Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1022, Mount Airy, NC 27030. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
