Gurney Thomas "Tom" Branch

Mr. Gurney Thomas “Tom” Branch, age 61, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Saturday, August 12, 2023.  He was born April 6, 1962, in Surry County to the late Gurney Lonnie Branch and the late Pat Draughn Branch Brinkley Cain. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Robert Brinkley.

            Tom was a loving husband, father and friend to all that knew him. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and worked for the USDA - Farm Service Agency as County Executive Director until his retirement. Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 34 years, Susie Philson Branch; daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth Branch Edwards and Jake Edwards; sister and brother-in-law, Karen Branch Hylton and Jerry Hylton; brother and sister-in-law, Bobby Branch and Debbie Branch; sister-in-laws and brothers-in-laws; Angie and Mike Casstevens, Andrew and Maria Merritt, Nick Philson and Kristy, Matt and Nichole Wilson, Dwayne and Tracy Huntley, Steve and Kim Huntley, and nieces Melissa Davis, Amanda Branch, and Tiffany and Chris Gibson, Christy Freeman, Emily Huntley, Caroline and Kyle Wendt, Kaitlin Huntley, and Lillianna Wilson; nephews Chris and Sheila Merritt, Mac and Nicole Casstevens, Ricky and Kari Casstevens, and David and Jordan Merritt; Chris Freeman, Cole Huntley, Alec Wilson and many special great nieces and nephews plus his devoted kitty Noel.

            Visitation will be Monday, August 14, 2023 from 11:00 AM till 1:00 PM at Fairview Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM in the Church, with Dr. Billy Nale and Rev. Trent Lyons officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, PO Box 955, Dobson NC 27017. Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson is serving the Branch family.
