Guy Aubrey Hooker

Mr. Guy Aubrey Hooker age 86 of 243 Plowboy Trail, Mt. Airy, NC went to be with the Lord after a short illness, Friday morning, February 23, 2007 at his home. Others that have gone on before are his parents, Murph and Pencie Ellen Collins Hooker, his loving wife, Sallie Mae Woodruff Hooker, a son, Benton L. Hooker, three sisters, Leola Woodruff, Arlene Edwards, and Ruby Barber and one brother, Estee Hooker. He has left behind to cherish his love and memories a son and daughter-in-law, Aubrey and Opal Hooker of Mt. Airy, NC, a daughter, Grace Ellen Hunt, of Newport News, VA, a brother, Gaston Hooker and wife, Shirley of Mt. Airy, NC, a sister, Inez Miller, of Williamsburg, VA, a very special loving friend, Bessie Burton, four grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren, a brother-in-law, Owen Barber, a sister-in-law, Lorene Hooker, a host of nieces and nephews, many friends and extended family. Mr. Hooker was born November 21, 1920 in Surry County, NC. He has lived a very full life being a blessing to all. He has been a farmer most of his life, sharing the bounty of his harvest with family, friends and neighbors. He has lived most of life in Surry County except for a few years when he resided in Williamsburg, VA where he accepted the Lord as his Savoir and joined the James River Baptist Church. After moving back to Surry County, he has continued to keep his faith and has worshiped and fellowshipped at Genesis Full Gospel Church here in Mt. Airy. Funeral services will be held 3:30 PM Sunday, February 25, 2007 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel of Mt. Airy conducted by Rev. Lonnie Gunter, Rev. Donnie Hooker and Rev. Rawley Amburn. Burial will follow in the New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7-9 PM Saturday night at Moody Funeral Home where his body will remain until the hour of the service.
