Hallie Alma Thomas Smith

Mrs. Hallie Alma Thomas Smith age 89 of 156 Salem Drive, Mt. Airy, NC passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at Northern Hospital of Surry County. She was born August 2, 1917 in Carroll County, VA to the late Robert Martin and Martha Elizabeth McMillian Thomas. She was retired from Perry Manufacturing, was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and was a homemaker. Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Ann Smith, Cana, VA, Bonnie and Bruce Ayers, Cana,. VA, son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Pat Smith, Mt. Airy, NC, Five grandsons and four spouses, Jamie Smith and Gloria, Cana, VA, B.J. Ayers and Beth, Fancy Gap. VA, Andrew Ayers and Brooke, Lexington, NC, Patrick Smith And Kristi, Cana, VA, and Jason Smith, Mt. Airy, NC, seven great grandchildren, Evan Ayers, Hallie Smith, Carmen Smith, Hoke Ayers, Hayden Ayers, Caroline Ayers and Bailey Strickland, two sisters and a brother-in-law, Maggie and John Brown, Hillsville, VA, and Jackie Scott, Cana, VA, three brothers and sisters-in-law, , Rubin and Edith Thomas, Mt. Airy, NC, Frank and Lois Thomas, Cana, VA, Jim and Frankie Thomas, Cana, VA. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Edward Smith, a son-in-law, Larry Smith, three brothers, Sam Thomas, Wyse Thomas and Roscoe Thomas and three sisters, Myrtle T. Davenport, Geneva Coe and Sarah Chandler. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, March 30,, 2007 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel of Mt. Airy conducted by Mr. Bruce Ayers and Rev. Bud Cameron. Burial will follow in the Mt. Bethel Moravian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 12:30 PM Friday until the time of the service at Moody Funeral Home.
