Harding "Cotton" C. Vaughn

Mr. Harding Carlis “Cotton” Vaughn, age 82 of Collinsville, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.  He was born in Patrick County on January 22, 1936 to the late Moir and Sallie Dollarhite Vaughn.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Vaughn was preceded in death by three sisters, Ellen Handy, Vera Burnette and Stella Gusler; and four brothers, Willie, Cecil, Ray and Herman Vaughn.  He had served in the United States Army and had worked for Whitlock Plumbing and Heating.  He attended Clearview Gospel Mission Church, loved to play golf, and was a faithful caregiver to his wife. 

            Mr. Vaughn is survived by his wife, Ruby Haden Vaughn of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Norma and Ronald Deskins of Collinsville; two grandchildren, Christopher Lee Foley, Jr., Kayla Foley Biggs and husband, Michael; one great-granddaughter, Meredith Biggs; a sister, Jane Lawson of Midlothian; one brother and sister-in-law, Leon and Brenda Vaughn of Stuart; and several nieces and nephews.

            Funeral services will be held Friday, January 18, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastors Danny Adkins and Blonnie Gregory officiating.  Burial will follow in Jacks Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.  Military rites will be conducted by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, c/o Patty Hazelwood, Memorial Gift Chairman, 1988 Wayside Road, Stuart, Virginia  24171 or the charity of the donor’s choice.  Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
