Mr. Harding Clyde Niston, Sr. Age 86 of 181 Long St. Mt. Airy, NC., widower of Mrs. Gladys Sutphin Niston passed away Thursday January 10, 2008 at the Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem. Mr. Niston was born March 10, 1921 in Carroll County, VA. to the late Hughey and Laura Jane Hawks Niston, he was owner and operator of Dixie Sandwich Shop, was a veteran of the US Army serving during WWII and was of the Baptist Faith. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law Linda and Delmer Casstevens and Shirley and Mitch Surratt all of Mt. Airy, five grandchildren, Terry Casstevens of Apex, Gloria White and husband Stan, Lane Surratt and Justin Surratt all of Mt. Airy and Randy Casstevens and wife Erin Cannon of Chevy Chase, MD. In addition to his wife and parents Mr. Niston was preceded in death by his son Harding Clyde Niston, Jr. and an infant daughter Judy Louise Niston and several step sisters and step brothers. Funeral services will be held Sunday January 13, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at the Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy with services conducted by Rev. Junior Dawson with burial to follow in the Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday night 7 to 9 P.M. at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy and at other time at the home of the daughters Linda Casstevens, 136 Wolfpack Trail Mt. Airy and Shirley Surratt, 170 Long St. Mt. Airy.
