Harlie Jordan Combs

Mr. Harlie Jordan "Gerden" Combs, 75, of 798 William Drive, Cana, VA, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2009, at his home. Mr. Combs was born December 10, 1933, in Carroll County, VA, son of the late Troy and Reva Steelman Combs. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Surviving are his wife, Gladys Hawks Combs of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Mark Crowley of King; a son and daughter-in-law, Darryl and Christina Combs of Cana, VA; a step-son, Michael Easter of Cana, VA; four grandchildren, Ikia Faith Combs, Cheyenne Hope Combs, Nate Isaiah Combs, and Michala Jordan Lowe; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Irene Gwyn of Tobaccoville, Vada Jessup of Mount Airy, and Viva and Pete Wilson of Julian; and three brothers and sisters-in-law, Russell and Banner Combs, Oscar and Sue Combs, and Chester and Nancy Combs, all of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Combs was preceded in death by three brothers, Allen "Bunny" Combs, Melvin Combs, and Thurman Combs. The funeral service will be held Friday, February 6, 2009, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Larry Jones, the Rev. Tony Holder, and Darryl Combs officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Edwards Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home.
