Harlie Donald Surratt

Mr. Harlie Donald Surratt, 68, of 768 East Bluemont Road, Mount Airy, passed away Saturday, September 8, 2007, at Central Continuing Care. Mr. Surratt was born September 17, 1939, in Carroll County, VA, son of the late Iby Olen Surratt and Ila Fay Hawks. He retired from Leonard Building and was a member of True Vine Baptist Church. He is survived by two stepsons and spouses, Billy and Geneva Hawks and Tommy and Jane Hawks, all of Mount Airy; three stepgrandchildren; two great-stepgrandchildren; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Norma and Hugh Kerney of Pfafftown, Doris Hawks and Iva Lee Gunnell, both of Cana, VA, and Patty and Max Mauldin of Mount Airy; and two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Carlos and Margaret Surratt and Horace and Carolyn Surratt, all of Mount Airy, and Arlene Surratt of Cana, VA. In addition to his parents, Mr. Surratt was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Felts Surratt; and a brother, Arlie Surratt. The funeral service will be held Monday, September 10, 2007, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Rawley "Dink" Haynes and the Rev. Gene Brinkley, and burial will follow at Susie Hawks Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
