Harold Orlando Brown, 86, of Shoals Community, Pinnacle NC passed away peacefully on October 14, 2024 in the same house where he was born. Born on October 5, 1938, Harold and his beloved wife Mary dedicated their lives to serving others through their deep faith and work as missionaries. His journey in ministry began at Linville Evangelical Methodist Church, where he served as pastor after graduating from John Wesley College. He also served as pastor at Greensboro Evangelical Methodist Church and Old Richmond Evangelical Methodist Church. In 1967, he embarked on a lifetime calling as missionary with One Mission Society (OMS). Harold spent 25 years serving with OMS in Haiti and 5 years in Russia before assuming supervisory roles in Europe and Africa. Throughout his extensive travels, he brought hope and faith to countless communities. His desire to minister to others never wavered, as he remained dedicated to his mission until his final days. A devoted member of Shoals Methodist Church, Harold was well respected both in his community and abroad. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary White Brown, in 2017. He is survived by his brother Eddie Brown, sister Mary Smith, and daughters Sharon Mishler (Martin) and Angie Gilliam (Byron). His legacy continues through his grandchildren Isaac Mishler, Rachel Trent (Austin), Sophie Gilliam, Rhys Gilliam and great-grandchildren Nolan and Tucker Trent in addition to nieces and nephews that he loved as his own. A service to celebrate his life will be held at 1pm on Saturday, October 26 2024 at Shoals Methodist Church, 4245 Shoals Rd, Pinnacle NC. In honor of Harold’s life of service, memorials may be mailed to Shoals Methodist Church, PO Box 161, Pinnacle, NC 27043 to support the rebuilding of Linville Evangelical Methodist Church which was severely affected in the flooding of Western North Carolina. Services are entrusted to Moody Funeral Services.
