Mr. Harold Gray Coleson, age 72 of Lambsburg, VA, husband of Mrs. Florence Smith Coleson, passed away Sunday October 1, 2006 at his home. Mr. Coleson was born in Surry County, October 13, 1933 to Frank and Mary Bobbitt Coalson. He served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War, was a member of Holly Grove Baptist Church and was a retired farmer. Surviving are his wife, Florence S. Coleson of the home, five daughters, Rebecca Coleson Cockerham of Winston-Salem; Bonnie Coleson of Mt. Airy; Kim Coleson and family friend, Pat King of Wytheville, VA; Vickie Hawks of Mt. Airy; Bonita Coleson Payne of Mt. Airy; a son, Doug Coleson of Lambsburg; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two sisters, Pauline Bobbitt and Mary Ivey both of Independence, VA; three brothers and four sisters-in-law, Carroll "Buster" and Betty Coleson of Mt. Airy; Estel and Vera Coleson of Independence, VA; Hoover and Lola Mae Coleson of Mt. Airy; Clara Coalson also of Mt. Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Coleson was preceded in death by two sisters, Edith Bobbitt and Sarah Hanks and four brothers, Brady Coalson, Charlie Coalson, Elmo Coleson and Bill Coleson. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at Holly Grove Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Donald Bryant and Rev. Harvey Bowman. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors by VFW Memorial Honor Guard Grover King Post of Hillsville. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 7:00 to 9:00 at the church.
