Mr. Harold Earl Moxley, 82, of 123 Daiquiri Road, Mount Airy, passed away Friday morning, January 1, 2010, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Moxley was born January 11, 1927, in Forsyth County, to the late Robert Earl and Nancy Salena Chipman Moxley. He served our country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a retired mechanic and a member of Maple Grove United Methodist Church. Mr. Moxley was a volunteer fireman with the city of Mount Airy, was a member of Round Peak Masonic Lodge #616 AF and AM and a member of the Mount Airy Elks Lodge. Surviving are his wife, Margaret Beamer Moxley of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Phil Marsh and Lynn and Barry Bickerstaff, all of Mount Airy; two grandsons and their spouses, Bucky and Kelly Hauser of Claudville, VA, and David and Gwen Hauser of High Point; two stepgrandchildren and their spouses, John and Heather Marsh and Suzette and Doug Glasco, all of Mount Airy; three great-grandchildren, Taylor Hauser and Tillee Hauser, both of Claudville, VA, and Brennan Hauser of High Point; step-great-grandchildren, Bailey Lance, Cole, and Sarah Glasco, Jordan, Eli and Jarred Marsh; and nephews and nieces, Billy, Rodney, Ricky, and Randy Moxley, Mike Beamer, Sue Patton-Burcham, and Mary Margaret Rector. In addition to his parents, Mr. Moxley was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas E. "Ed" Moxley; and a son-in-law, Gideon Clay "Cub" Hauser. The funeral service will be held Monday, January 4, 2010, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with Pastor Richard Buffkin and Mr. Barry Bickerstaff officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens, with military rites conducted by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard and Masonic rites conducted by the Round Peak Masonic Lodge #616 AF and AM. The family will receive friends Monday, January 4, 2010, from noon until the time of the service at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017, or to the Maple Grove United Methodist Church Building Fund, 416 South Franklin Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
