Mr. Harold "Harry" Taylor, 73, of 848 Pine Ridge Road, Mount Airy, passed away Monday, February 26, 2007, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. Taylor was born October 25, 1933, in Surry County, to the late Ben John and Mamie East Taylor. He served our country in the United States Army and was the owner and operator of Taylor Enterprises for many years. Mr. Taylor was a faithful member and deacon of Community Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jean Cook Taylor of the home; five sons and four daughters-in-law, Harold Thomas and Andrea Nichols Taylor, James Kelley Taylor, Ben Andrew and Leigh Ann Chambers Taylor, all of Mount Airy, Larry Jonathan Lane and Denise Black Taylor of Mount Holly, and Joshua Jean-Paul and Angela Brannock Taylor of Dobson; nine grandchildren, Daniel Ward Taylor, Meredith Ann Taylor, Mason James Taylor, Maggie Elizabeth Taylor, Cameron Andrew Taylor, Savannah Lee Taylor, Samuel Longstreet Taylor, Sydney Hall Taylor, and Sarah Jackson Taylor; two stepgrandchildren, William Eric Marshall and Christin Elizabeth Marshall; a sister, Rachel Taylor Coleman of Mount Airy; and a brother, James Louie Taylor of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by a son, Benjamin Ward Taylor; two sisters-in-law, Cleo Taylor and Glenna Taylor; and a brother-in-law, Ray Coleman. The funeral service will be held Thursday, March 1, 2007, at 2:00 PM at Community Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Kenneth Jessup, and burial will follow in the Pine Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery, with military honors conducted by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard Post 2019 of Mount Airy and Post 9436 of Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where his body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes before the funeral service.
