Harriett Wilma Harbin Holmes

Mrs. Harriett Wilma Harbin Holmes of Mount Airy passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was 83 years old. Mrs. Holmes was born July 26, 1941, in Brandywine, Maryland, one of four children born to the late Hilda Hutchens and Harry Harbin. Harriett found joy in the simple pleasures of life – baking, preparing home-cooked meals for those she loved and crocheting. She was a devoted fan of Hallmark movies, she cherished the stories of love and connections. Harriett was a helper in every sense of the word, never hesitating to help a loved one in need. She deeply loved her grandchildren and took immense pride in teaching them. She will be dearly missed by her family. Mrs. Holmes is survived by her children, Brenda Richards, Robert M. Richards and William P. Richards; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jean Armfield. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Holmes was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Holmes; sister, Linda Hicks; and brother, John Kidwell. No formal services will be held at this time. Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy is serving the Holmes. family.
