Harvey Elmer Smith

Mr. Harvey Elmer Smith, 83, of Rural Hall, passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2011, at Village Care of King. Mr. Smith was born June 10, 1927, in Surry County, to the late Dewey and Edna Isaacs Smith. He served our country in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a truck driver and a member of Stanleyville Baptist Church. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Betty Arrington Smith of the home; two sisters, Ada Williams and Flossie Shamel, both of Winston-Salem; and a brother and sister-in-law, Baxter and Joan Smith of Clemmons. In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by two brothers, Jasper Smith and Leonard Smith. The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 8, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Eddie Honeycutt officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:30 PM until the time of the service.
