Hasel Gene Smith

Mr. Hasel Gene Smith 67, Cana, VA passed away Friday, November 27, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem. Mr. Smith was born on May 3, 1948 in Carroll County to the late Carl and Flora Boyd Smith. Mr. Smith was retired from NC Granite Quarry. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Regina and Allen Huff of Mt. Airy, NC; a granddaughter, Laken Huff and fiance' Brandon Cooke, of Pinnacle; a great grandchild, Hunter Lee Cooke of Pinnacle; sisters and brothers-in-law, Susan and Oscar Combs, Bettie and Turner Watts all of Mt. Airy, NC; brothers and sisters-in-law, Clarence and Mamie Smith, James Smith, Calvin Smith all of Mt. Airy, NC, Alvin Smith, Jack Smith, Bill Smith all of Cana, VA; Susie Smith of Ararat, VA; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by a son, Hassell Lee Smith; brothers, Milton, Donald, Jesse, and Swanson Smith. Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 29, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Mt. Bethel Moravian Church with Pastor Charles Fishel, Pastor Brent Sawyers, and Pastor Jason Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 PM until time for the service at the church. Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy is serving the Smith family.
