Mr. Hassell Leon Dollyhigh, 77, of 100 Surry Manor Lane, Dobson, passed Saturday, November 6, 2010, at Golden Living Center in Mount Airy. Mr. Dollyhigh was born October 8, 1933, in Surry County, to the late Lester McKinley and Mamie Thelma Danley Dollyhigh. Hassell was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a retired truck driver. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Norma and Billy Warren of King and Sylvia and Kirk Boyles of Mount Airy; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Donald and Debbie Dollyhigh and Jerry Dollyhigh, all of Mount Airy; six grandchildren, Anthony Inman, Michael Inman, Christopher Inman, T.J. Sparker, Zachary Spraker, and Tonya Alderman; a great-grandchild, Blake Alderman; a sister-in-law, Elsie Hayes of Mount Airy; and two brothers-in-law, Allen Hayes and Dink Shumate, both of Mount Airy; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Jean and Robert Lynch of Lowgap and Carolyn Bullen of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dollyhigh was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Lola Mae Hayes Dollyhigh; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Frankie and Dale Parsons and Gaynell Shumate; and a brother, James Dollyhigh. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, November 9, 2010, at 2:00 PM at Blues Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Sammy Lawson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Blues Grove Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Blues Grove Baptist Church, 3607 Red Brush Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030; the Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 1022, Mount Airy, NC 27030; or to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
