Mr. Hasten Gray Haymore, age 73, of Dobson, passed away Sunday, July 11, 2021, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born January 3, 1948, in Surry County to the late Sam Haymore and the late Isabelle Branch Haymore. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Nora Haymore and Randy Eldridge. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Becky Eldridge Haymore; daughters and sons-in-law, Candace and Kevin Burcham, and Dr. Molly and Fred Fisher; grandchildren, Bailey Johnson, Brody Johnson, and Karoline Burcham; honorary son and daughter, Spencer and Angel Mauck; brothers and sister-in-law, E.L. Haymore and Terry and Donna Haymore; and nieces, Dacia Benton and Toby White. Mr. Haymore served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War as a PFC of the 118 Army Air Assault. He worked over 50 years as a contractor with the last 42 of those years building his swimming pool business that he was so proud of which will continue in his absence. He was a faithful member and long-time deacon of Salem Fork Baptist Church. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, University of Kentucky Basketball, and Gunsmoke. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 14, 2021, from 11:00 am -1:00 pm in the Family Life Center of Salem Fork Baptist Church. The funeral will follow at 1:00 pm with Pastor Sean Joplin officiating. Burial with military honors will be conducted in the church cemetery with VFW Mount Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436.
