Hattie Mae Easter Jones

Mrs. Hattie Mae Easter Jones, 89, of 329 East Poplar Street, Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at her home. Mrs. Jones was born March 27, 1920, in Surry County, to the late Greenberry and Annie Thomas Easter. She retired from Spencer's Inc. and was a member of Fancy Gap Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and was a member of the WMU. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and the Rev. Rusty Reed of Mount Airy; a son, James Edgar Jones, Sr. of Baden Lake; five grandchildren and a spouse, Leslie and Chris Flippin, Billy Reed and fiancee, Nicole Cain, Matthew Reed, and Jamey Ellen Robertson, all of Mount Airy, and James Jones. Jr. of Charlotte; and three great-grandchildren, Noah Sadler, Gray Sadler, and Devin Jones. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband, William Gray Jones, Sr.; a son William Gray Jones, Jr.; three sisters, Bessie Easter, America Spencer, and Gracie Martin; and two brothers, Obie Easter and Troy Easter. The funeral service will be held Friday, May 15, 2009, at 11:00 AM at Fancy Gap Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dwight Sechrist officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, and other times at 329 East Poplar Street, Mount Airy.
