Haywood Hobert Easter

Mr. Haywood Hobert Easter, 67, of 216 New Street, Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at his home. Mr. Easter was born September 2, 1940, in Carroll County, VA, to the late Floyd and Nellie Mae Hall Easter. He retired from Renfro Corporation and was a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Cana, VA. He is survived by his wife, Mildred Louise Stillwell Easter of the home; a son, Haywood Berlie Easter and fiancee, Amy Shumate, of Mount Airy; a stepdaughter and spouse, Jessie Diane and David Bowman of Mount Airy; two stepsons, Tracy Ray Gwyn and Lonnie Dwayne Gwyn, both of Ararat; two grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; seven great-stepgrandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Dorsie and Carlie Combs of Cana, VA; and three brothers and four sisters-in-law, Hennis and Lorraine Easter and Howard and June Easter, all of Cana, VA, and Haskell and Mary Easter and Bernell Easter, all of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Easter was preceded in death by his stepfather, Charles Hall; and a brother, Harvey Easter. The funeral service will be held Saturday, May 31, 2008, at 2:00 PM at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Isreal Gwyn, the Rev. Russell Vass, the Rev. Louis Martin, and Haywood Berlie Easter. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where his body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes before the funeral service.
