Haywood Conrad Vaughn

Mr. Haywood Conrad Vaughn, of Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at Trinity Elms Health and Rehabilitation Center in Clemmons.  Mr. Vaughn was born in Surry County, the son of the late Zebulon Vance and Ella Mae Robertson Vaughn.  He proudly served our county in the United States Army and was a well-known and trusted banker in Mount Airy and Winston-Salem in addition to working at Northern Hospital of Surry County as patient accounts manager.  Haywood was a member of First Baptist Church; the chancel choir and the E.G. Wynne Sunday School Class.  He is survived by his devoted wife, Anne Fleming Vaughn; a daughter and son-in-law, Melinda and Brad Eddins; and his precious grandchildren, Justin Conrad and Cameron Vaughn Eddins; sisters-in-law Linda Vaughn and Loretta Vaughn and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jane and A.J. Cole; and numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Vaughn was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Vaughn Frye; and all his brothers, Donald, Herschel, Arvel, Lester, and Bernie Vaughn, and infants Carl and Carlie Vaughn.  The funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday, June 10, 2018, at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jay Meadows officiating.  Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery with full military honors by the VFW Honor Guard Mt. Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436.  The family will receive friends in the Fireside Room at First Baptist Church on Sunday, from 2:30 until 3:30 PM.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.  Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Organ Fund at First Baptist Church, 714 N. Main St., Mt.
