Hazel Lee Pilson Comer

Mrs. Hazel Lee Pilson Comer, a loving wife, mother and grandmother,age 90, passed away on Friday September 23, 2022, at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in Elkin, NC. She was born in Surry County on July 28, 1932, to the late Brady Modassie Pilson and the late Bessie Rodella Key Pilson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Elmer Odell Comer; sisters Alda Pilson Doby and husband Arnold Doby, Lettie Pilson Key and a niece Robin Kulhawik; additionally from the Comer family she was preceded in death by her father and mother in law; Sid and Vassie Comer; sisters in law; “Sis” and husband J.B. Childress; Barbara and husband Jimmie Davis; and Janice Key; brothers in law; James and wife Marylene Comer; and Delmore “Pete” Comer. She was a member and deaconess of Salem Fork Christian Church, retired from Surry County School System as a Teacher Assistant. She loved working with children. Surviving are her two children, son Rocky Comer; daughter Michelle Tutterow: grandchildren, Alex Tutterow, Courtney and Austin Edwards; Son-in-law, Mike Tutterow; brother in law Jack Key; from the Comer family she is survived by; sisters in law Faye Comer; Irene and husband Max Weavil; brothers in law; Clark and wife Carolyn Comer; and Tommy Key. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday September 26, 2022, at Salem Fork Christian Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Austin Caviness will officiate the services. The family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home on Sunday evening, September 25, 2022 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
