Mrs. Hazel Alma Stanley Dunkley, 80, of Stuart, VA, passed away Saturday, September 18, 2010, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born July 7, 1930, in Patrick County, VA, to the late Ernest Allen and Lucy Alma Stanley. She retired from CMI of Stuart and was a member of Asbury Presbyterian Church. Surviving are her husband, Johnnie Elzie Dunkley of the home; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Patricia Anne and John Simmons of Chesapeake, VA, Rebecca Hunter of Mount Airy, and Wanda and Gary Stanley of Dobson; a son and daughter-in-law, Stanley and Rona Dunkley of Jacksonville, FL; five grandchildren and two spouses, Andrew and Michelle Simmons, Aimee and Shea Molihan, Adam Stanley, Nicole Dunkley, and Nicholas Stanley; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Hava Heath of Claudville, VA, Hester and Wilbur Lynch of Mount Airy, and Guiwana and Lawrence Compton of Bassett, VA; a brother and two sisters-in-law, Ledford "Pat" and Carol Stanley of Meadows of Dan, VA, and Alda Stanley of Stuart, VA; and three special friends, Helen George, Denise Slate, and Stacey Combs. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dunkley was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Gearl Hunter; a sister, Eula Marshall; two brothers, Wilton Stanley and Winford Stanley. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 21, 2010, at 2:00 PM at Asbury Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. David Heath and the Rev. Terry Collins officiating. Burial will follow in the Bell Spur Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. The family would like to express a "special thanks" to the doctors and staff at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home for the care given during Mrs. Dunkley's stay.
