Hazel McMillian Eaton

Mrs. Hazel McMillian Eaton, 87, of 15 Johnson Creek Road, Ararat, VA, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2008, at Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart, VA. Mrs. Eaton was born October 14, 1920, in Carroll County, VA, the youngest child of the late Howard and Ada Ayers McMillian. She was a retired textile worker and homemaker. During her younger years, Hazel enjoyed fishing with her husband, Ernest, and, while her health permitted, she enjoyed canning and freezing vegetables and fruits. She also enjoyed working side by side with her husband in the garden. Hazel was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Cana, VA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Ernest Leonard Eaton; two sisters, Arlis Weddle and Daisy Bondurant; and an infant brother, Rush McMillian. Hazel enjoyed preparing Sunday dinners for the family. She will be missed by the children of family members who loved her and whom Hazel loved and enjoyed. The funeral service will be held Saturday, March 29, 2008, at 2:00 PM at Oak Grove Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Oscar Hill, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the church.
