Hazel Virginia Johnson

Mrs. Hazel Virginia White Johnson, 90, of Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday morning, May 1, 2018, at her home.  Mrs. Johnson was born May 12, 1927, in Surry County, one of five children born to the late Charlie and Mecie Jessup White.  Hazel retired from Hanesbrands Inc. and was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church.  She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Jean Johnson of Galax, VA, and Jimmy and Lydia Johnson of Dobson; four grandsons, Larry Johnson, Jr. and his wife, Brenda, and Michael Johnson, all of Dobson, Andy Johnson of Galax, VA, and Nick Johnson of Greensboro; a great-granddaughter, Victoria Johnson of Dobson; three great-stepgrandchildren, Tonya Jennings and her husband, Ben, Savannah Adams and her husband, Jacob, and Dakota Harold; two great-great-stepgrandchildren, Saylor Jennings and Sophie Jennings; and a sister-in-law, Gaynell White of Mount Airy.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Colmar Johnson; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Lou and Gary Hall; and three brothers and a sister-in-law, William Forster “Top” and Dorothy White, Bob White, and Jack White.  The funeral service will be held Thursday, May 3, 2018, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Mark A. Reece, Jr. officiating.  Entombment will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens Mausoleum.  The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
