Hazel Beasley McMillian

Mrs. Hazel Beasley McMillian, 67, of 1132 Red Brush Road, Mount Airy, passed away Monday, September 8, 2008, at her home. Mrs. McMillian was born December 21, 1940, in Surry County, daughter of the late Woltz and Annie Lee Flippen Beasley. Hazel was a teaching assistant at Franklin Elementary School for 14 years. Following her retirement from the school system, she volunteered countless hours for the Yokefellow Cooperative Ministry and the HOST program at Gentry Middle School. Mrs. McMillian was a faithful member of Grace Moravian Church. She was involved in many organizations of the church, including the knitting ministry, handbell choir, women's fellowship, and a Sunday school teacher. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Hubert Lee McMillian of the home; four daughters and sons-in-law, Sheryl and Tim Eaves of Mayodan, and Janet and Chad Hull, Patricia and Todd Tolbert, and Pam and Brian Stone, all of Mount Airy; ten grandchildren and a spouse, Randy Eaves and Ashley Eaves, both of Mayodan, Nicki and Todd Hiatt of Raleigh, and Erin Hull, Taylor Hull, Alicia Tolbert, Landon Tolbert, Kasie Tolbert, Denver Stone, and Abbey Stone, all of Mount Airy; and a sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Hampton Beamer of Mount Airy. The funeral service will be held Thursday, September 11, 2008, at 11:00 AM at Grace Moravian Church. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Tony Hayworth, the Rev. Jeff Coppage, and the Rev. Dale Wallace, and burial will follow in God's Acre. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
