Mrs. Hazel Mae Tate Bowman Mills, 73, of Mount Airy, passed away Friday, December 6, 2019, at Northern Regional Hospital.  Mrs. Mills was born May 8, 1946, in Surry County, to the late Fred and Stella Tate.  Among the many who will cherish her loving memories are her sons, Clifford Bowman and his wife, Joy Nations Bowman, James “Bo” Robert (Carol), and Brian Keith Bowman; her grandchildren, Christy Bowman Woodbury, Jace Bowman, Brooke Bowman Livengood (Brett), and Josie Bowman; her great-grandchildren, Markel Woodbury, Makara Woodbury, Makiyon Woodbury, Brode Livengood, Brewer Livengood, and Brennon Bowman; her brother, Edd Tate (Lorraine Tate); and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mrs. Mills was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Clifford Bowman; her second husband, Edward “Jack” Mills; two sisters, Rachael Smith and Opal Hall; and three brothers, John D. Tate, Junior Tate, and Wade Tate.  Mrs. Mills will always be remembered for her passion for gardening, tending to flowers, and her dogs.  The family will receive friends Saturday, December 14, 2019, at 12:00 until 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.  A private interment will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC  27030.  The family would like to express a special thanks to Susie Holt.
