Hazel Brooks Money

Mrs. Hazel Marie Brooks Money, age 90, of Thurmond, NC passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home, in Dobson, NC.  She was born in Surry County on February 15, 1931, to the late Andrew Jackson Brooks and the late Myrtle Bates Brooks.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Dobson Money; sons, Donald Wayne Money, Grady David Money; daughter, Linda Susan Money; one great-great granddaughter; sisters, Doris Shores, Thelma Mack, Theresa Nixon, Effie Brooks; brothers, Harvey Brooks, Robie Brooks, Clifford Brooks, five other brothers and sisters.  Hazel was an owner/operator of a flower shop for more than 47 years; she was a founding member of Union Hill Baptist Church until her illness kept her away.  Surviving is her son, Dwight Money; grandchildren, Joni and Reece Cheek, Wendy and Sandra Perry, Kristy Money and C.J. Johnson; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; brother and sister-in-law, Roy Lee and Rosa Lee Brooks; sister-in-law, Shelby C. Brooks; brother-in-law, John Mack; special caretaker and family member, Debbie Money. The family will have a private funeral service.  Her body will lie in state on Thursday afternoon from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Moody-Davis Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
