In the early morning hours of Saturday, December 23, 2023, Mrs. Helen Lowe Bartley departed this earth surrounded by her loving niece, Linda Gravely and her three children, Penny, Dean and Debbie. Greeted by a host of angels, friends and loved ones to welcome her to her new heavenly home; she was delivered into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. To know the love and joy that Helen brought those around her, was a special blessing. She was always happy to see visitors coming up the hill. Helen was the daughter of Talmadge and Lottie Vaughn Lowe. After retiring from Rowe Furniture of Salem, Va, she and her husband, James O’dell Bartley moved back to the Beulah community where they both became members of New Life Baptist Church. Mrs. Bartley is survived by a sister-in-law, Frankie Lowe; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Helen was preceded in death by sisters, Zella Goings, Mary Faye Jarvis, and RuNelle Moran and brothers J.C. “Crissie” Lowe, Decosta Lowe, Bill Lowe, Frank Lowe, Doug Lowe and infant brother, Mitchell Lowe. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at New Life Baptist Church cemetery, conducted by Hospice Chaplain, Mark Brown. There will not be a formal visitation and the family will meet at the graveside. The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the caring staff of Twelve Oaks and Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care. The family would also like to extend deep and sincere gratitude to Shelby Graybeal, devoted caregiver for more than five years and continued family friend; without whom, Aunt Helen would not have been able to remain in her home as long as she did. Memorials may be made to Twelve Oaks or Mountain Valley Hospice.
