Helen Easter Cornelius

Mrs. Helen Joann Easter Cornelius, 66, of 1287 Newsome Street, Mount Airy, passed away Friday, September 8, 2006, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Cornelius was born June 19, 1940, in Carroll County, VA, to the late Harmon William and Laura Rippey Easter. She is survived by a daughter, Susie Smith of Spindale; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren; a sister, Nina Easter Blizard of Mount Airy; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Glenn and Tammy Easter of Mount Airy and James Easter of Marion, VA; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cornelius was preceded in death by her first husband, Eugene Smith; her second husband, William "Bill" Cornelius; a son, Tommy Smith; and three sisters, Carolyn Easter Simmons, June Easter Brim, and Peggy Easter Inman. A memorial service will be held Monday, September 11, 2006, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Larry Jones. The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, and other times at the home of Glenn and Tammy Easter, 1551 North Main Street, Mount Airy.
