Mrs. Helen Jeanette Hawks Johnson, age 61, of Lowgap, wife of Wallace "Wally" Gray Johnson, passed away Friday, July 27, 2007 at her home. Mrs. Johnson was born in Surry County September 17, 1945 to Naomi Ruth Brooks Hawks and the late Raleigh Thomas Hawks. She was a homemaker and a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church. Surviving are her loving husband, Wally Johnson of the home; a special daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Steve Ortiz of Mt. Airy; a special son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Suzette Glasco also of Mt. Airy; two special grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Cole Glasco and Sarah Glasco; her mother, Naomi Hawks of Lowgap; a special loving sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Bob Jenkins of Gray Court, SC and many special nieces and nephews. In addition to her father, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Hawks and Ray Hawks. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, July 29, 2007 at Mount Vernon Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Bill Spurlin. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 until 3:00 PM at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mount Vernon Baptist Church, Cemetery Fund, 141 Spurlin Lane Lowgap, NC. 27024. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Mountain Valley Hospice including Dr. Chrysson, Delores Johnson, Deborah Mattey, Penny Smith, Melissa O'Brien, and Sarah Lineberry and a special thanks to her many loving friends whom she loved dearly.
