Helen Irene Tate Miller

Mrs. Helen Irene Tate Miller, age 71 of Mt. Airy, widow of Mr. Hubert Edwin "Corky" Miller, passed away Friday, January 19, 2007 at her home. Mrs. Miller was born in Carroll County, April 7, 1935 to Earl Washington and Elsie Marshall Tate. She attended Franklin School, graduated from Surry Community College in 1972 and Retired from Airmont Florist after many years of faithful service. Mrs. Miller was an avid Duke Basketball Fan and enjoyed many hours of watching all of her grandsons many basketball and football games in the Mt. Airy schools and was a devoted member of Salem United Methodist Church, Mt. Airy. Surviving are a daughter, Renee "Toni" Letterman of Mt. Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Colette Miller of Salisbury; grandchildren; Courtney Miller, Andy Miller Edwin Letterman; Todd Regan and Shannon Regan, a sister, Berlene Greene Porter of Rural Hall; sisters-in-law, Peggy Jarrell Tate and Betty Jean Miller Hunt both of Mt. Airy; brothers-in-law, Melvin Strickland of Mt. Airy; and Bill Miller of Easley, SC. In addition to her parents and husband Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her brothers Early Junior Tate and Carlie Ray Tate and sisters Imogene Tate and Frances Tate Lineback and Magdalene Tate Strickland Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at 11am at Skyline Memory Gardens with services conducted by Reverend Bud Cameron .The family will receive friends Monday, January 22, 2007 from 6 to 8 pm at Moody Funeral Home, Mt. Airy, NC. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Goodwill Industries, Winston-Salem, NC and St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, TN.
