Mrs. Helen Tolbert Murray Vipperman, 82, of 546 Lovill Street, Mount Airy, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2010, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born October 9, 1927, in Surry County, to the late Frank and Georgia Smith Tolbert. She was a homemaker and a member of the Holiness faith. Surviving are four daughters and a son-in-law, Frances Kay East of Stuart, VA, Kathy and Rodney Gunter and Judy Murray, all of Mount Airy, and Debbie Brackins of Johnson City, TN; four sons and daughters-in-law, Charles Murray, Jr. and Sue Mclendon, Linda Murray, and Billy and Helen Murray, all of Mount Airy, Kyle and Donna Murray of Thomasville, and Kenneth Murray and Curly Hawkins of Winston-Salem; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, Albert "Al" and Margaret Tolbert of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mr. Vipperman was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Henry Murray; her second husband, William Claude Vipperman; a son, Lyle Kent Murray; a great-granddaughter, Victoria Elizabeth Murray; a brother, Grady Tolbert; and a sister, Ruth Tolbert Watson. The funeral service will be held Monday, January 11, 2010, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Jim Vipperman, Chaplain Sharon Snow, and the Rev. Dennis W. "Bud" Cameron officiating. Burial will follow in the Hooker Cemetery in Vesta, VA. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
