Henry Thomas Brintle

Mr. Henry Thomas “Tom” Brintle, 79, of 549 Dover Church Road, Mount Airy, went home to be with his heavenly Father on Thursday morning, January 7, 2016, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Brintle was born July 10, 1936, in Surry County, one of four children born to the late James Gurney and Lula Belle Mauldin Brintle. Tom served our country in the United States Army from 1958 until 1962. He worked as a farmer for many years and later retired from Proctor-Silex Inc. A member of the Christian faith, Tom was a fireman for White Plains Volunteer Fire Department, an avid fisherman, and a Duke Blue Devils basketball enthusiast. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joyce Faye Kirkman Brintle of the home; a daughter, Monica Brintle of Mount Airy; a son, Jeff Brintle of Bluefield, VA; four grandchildren, Courtney White and her husband, Matthew, of Mount Airy, Dr. Joshua Brintle and his wife, Allison, of Kingsport, TN, Kendall Sanborn of Raleigh, and Amanda Wright and her husband, Lenny, of Tazewell, VA; two great-grandchildren, Natalee Walls and Cason White; two great-stepgrandchildren; and four nephews, Wayne York and Johnny Torrie, both of Greensboro, Greg Stewart of Los Angeles, CA, and Paul Torrie. In addition to his parents, Mr. Brintle was preceded in death by an infant brother; and two sisters, Lucille Turner and Betty Jo Stewart. The funeral service will be held Sunday, January 10, 2016, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Larry Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Dover Baptist Church Cemetery, with military honors by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the Dover Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 178 Dover Church Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
