Mr. Herbert Eugene Faw, 80, of 249 South Boyles Street, Pilot Mountain, passed away Monday morning, December 14, 2009, at his home. He was born December 9, 1929, in Surry County, to the late William Euriah and Mittie Ann Jarrell Faw. Herbert retired from the North Carolina Granite Corporation and was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served in the Korea Conflict. Mr. Faw was very active in a nursing home ministry at Golden Living Center for over 30 years and was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness faith. Surviving are his wife, Betty Jo Wilson Faw of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Jeff Holder of Lexington; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Patricia Faw of Knightdale; five grandchildren and four spouses, Jeffrey and Kimberly Holder of Kodiak, AK, Benjamin and Charlotte Holder of Lexington, Christopher and Laura Faw of Knightdale, Ryan Faw of Raleigh, and Beth and Nick Perkins of East Asia; five great-grandchildren, Keegan Holder, Kyleigh Holder, Raylen Holder, Cason Holder, and Olivia Faw; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Ruby and Jim Uldrick, Rachel and William Puckett, and Louise Vaughn, all of Mount Airy; and a brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Ann Faw of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Faw was preceded in death by three infant sisters; and a brother, Paul Faw. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 16, 2009, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with Dr. David Sparks and the Rev. Lee Boyette officiating. Burial will follow in the Midkiff Cemetery, with military honors by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
